Kids in Science Classes [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

Question by grasshopper_60619: What is the status of science jobs and careers in the US? I have been reading on some articles that the US is producing too many scientists , but few jobs for them. Because of this, there are some strong competition for science jobs in the US. I wondered woudl these factors, plus low paid, would keep many college graduates away from a science career in the US. Also, can many scientists performed their own research and experiments with the use of outside sources, rather than depending upon the US government for grant money. Best answer for What is the status of science jobs and careers in the US?:

Answer by J Mech E
I have seen some jobs moving overseas, but there are still plenty of opportunities for well educated scientists as researchers or in applied science roles in industry.

As a science teacher, you know how hard it is to keep kids in science classes involved and paying attention. Many times it seems like the students just zone out and wait for the bell to ring. Teaching a science class is a big challenge on its own, and it becomes even more challenging when students are not interested. The good news is that kids in science classes are interested, they are just used to the lecture as usual method which bores them. Switching up the method from time to time is what you can do as a teacher, and the best news is that you can start today!

The first thing you can do is feed them or give them rewards for every correct answer. This was actually done in the movie Dangerous Minds, and the truth of the matter is that it works. Giving out rewards will keep kids in science classes paying attention to the lecture because they will want to be rewarded again. Handing out bite sized chocolate bars for every correct answer or for those who are paying attention and participating is one good start to keeping kids in science classes. What's more is that chocolate will provide them with a burst of energy, which may be just what they need to stay involved.

Next, catch their attention by doing experiments in class. The bigger or flashier the experiment, the better it will be. Giving kids in science classes visual and live demonstrations, instead of just film or picture demonstrations will keep them alert. Even something as simple as displaying the different colors that appear when elements are burned is a good demonstration that goes well with a lesson on the periodic table. You can also ask one of the popular kids to help you with your demonstration. Usually asking someone that most of the other students like will keep the kids attention because they want to see what the popular kid has to do.

Finally, expand your classroom. The problem that many kids in science class face is that they go into the same room and s tare at the same four walls day in and day out. This can be pretty boring, and even you will admit to it! Expand your classroom by going on field trips or conducting class in another section of the school, like the football field or the basketball court. This will be especially helpful if you're trying to teach them about the physics behind sports. Getting out of the classroom once or twice a week is enough to get your students paying attention, and enjoying the period a bit more. They will start to see your class as a fun break from all the other monotonous ones, and that means they will be paying attention!

The Opening Sequence - Asura's Wrath

Babysitters and babysitting stories are one of those subjects that everyone could practically write a book about. We were all kids and tried all the same tricks that our own children will try on the babysitter you hire. The stories you want to hear are the ones about the babysitter the kids like and the cool things they did and how much fun they have. Using cool one day science fair projects as an activity for babysitters to do with the kids is one idea that has great potential for success.

"That's not how Mommy does it," or "Daddy said we had to do it this way," are two statements that babysitters have nightmares about. The kicker is you never know for sure if they are pulling your leg!. This is where the beauty of having a stash of one day science fair projects comes in. You leave a project behind, something the kids have never done before, and babysitter and children will get involved in the experiments and have some fun without having to hear about how mom or dad usually does it.

Another benefit for babysitters doing a science project, is that it is something constructive to do with their time. Open ended time, that can only be filled if the kids actually answer the, "What would you like to do tonight?" question with something besides a shrug, or the very thing the parents just told you they could not do. When children know there is something specific planned for the evening, it gives them something to look forward to, and the babysitter has something to fill up a hunk of time.

A final benefit of using these one day science fair projects as an activity for babysitters is that it gives direction and focus for the evening where the parents will see the results. When it is all over, the data from the project can be on display. A digital download science project should come with a built in spreadsheet where the results can be entered and turned into a cool looking chart. Print the chart out for when the parents come home and there is instant topic for discussion the next day.

Babysitters themselves might want to invest in their own copy of quality one day science fair projects to use with all of the different families they sit for. They will learn how to adapt experiments to different ages and interests. It is a win-win situation for everyone, parents, babysitters and the children to have this simple and fun activity to use while the parents get a well deserved break.

Recently, the President announced several new public-private collaborations that would make investments of more than $ 250 million to help train more than 10,000 new math and science instructors and provide additional training to more than 100,000 existing teachers. There is a determined push to employ teachers who can assertively and enthusiastically educate in the area of science.

"Passionate educators with deep content expertise can make all the difference," President Obama stated in a prepared speech, "enabling hands-on learning that truly engages students -- including girls and underrepresented minorities -- and preparing them to tackle the 'grand challenges' of the 21st century such as increasing energy independence, improving people's health, protecting the environment and strengthening national security."

American students' rankings in science continue to plummet compared to various other nations, which does not bode well for our ability to innovat e and compete in the future. All of this points out that our educational institutions are still failing to properly educate kids in the science and math they will need to be successful in their adult professions. There is a need to use engaging science materials at an early age, particularly for those who educate privately or at home.

The administration's crusade is called "Educate to Innovate" and is pursuing numerous avenues to increase U.S. students' rank in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. (See the full White House press release for information on how colleges and private companies are working on the issue.)

Home schoolers and private educators of all backgrounds must feel confident in being able to present science lessons and make them exciting for the studen t - just like the national effort to train professional teachers. What about President Obama singling out the need to engage girls? Here's just one sign that points out that problem: Barely 17% of undergraduate engineering degrees are awarded to women.

Question by La Sona J: What is a good economical way to do a science project? My son and I are trying to get ideas for a science project for his school. I am not scientifically inclined and I don't want him to notice that and the fact that I don't have a lot of money either. I need topic ideas at least to start. He has two weeks to get it done and I just found out a few days ago. Help? Best answer for What is a good economical way to do a science project?:

Answer by oldgruffgrump
That's easy. Just take some kind of scientific survey. Come up with a questionnaire, print a bunch of copies, and ask people to respond. That will be cheap and easy. Just be imaginative. For example, it could be a set of questions about science (to measure people's understanding of science). However, if you do that, be 100% sure that you actually know the correct answers. I did that once, and ended up embarrassing myself when one or two of my answers were wrong. Other possible surveys could have to do with health or behavior. For instance: 1. A sleep survey, asking people how many hours they sleep at night, and whether they sleep better after eating late, or not eating late. Or you might ask about whether they sleep more on weeknights or weekends. 2. A consumer survey, asking people whether their clothing choices are influenced by advertising, or peers, or family, or whatever. Get creative. You can come up with lots of ideas for cheap and easy surveys. Do a little simple statistical analysis, write an interesting report, and you've got a project -- and maybe even something worth a story in the local newspaper.

One Day Science Fair Projects - Great For Weekend Hands-On Fun [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

One Day Science Fair Projects - Great For Weekend Hands-On Fun [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

The weekends are often the only time during the school year the family can kick back and relax from the busy daily routines of work and school. This is a great time to get into the habit of doing something hands on with your kids to get them away from their electronic devices for awhile. The first things that comes to mind is doing something crafty, putting a puzzle together, or baking cookies together. Another idea that you may not have thought of is to search for some simple one day science fair projects that use everyday household materials to answer everyday questions that come up naturally, like "Is there the same amount of vitamin C in juice as there is in oranges?" This article will explore some of the benefits bringing a science project into the weekend mix of activities.

One huge benefit, that goes without saying, is the opportunity for quality time. Those words have become a catch phrase, and overused at times, but the bottom line is any chance to spend some time with your child without other distractions, is time well spent. Doing a hands on project is even better since it encourages healthy conversation, and a chance to give advice without appearing to nag. Since it is a science project, it opens their curiosity doors to talk about other science things in our everyday world.

Another benefit of bringing one day science fair projects into your weekend routines whenever it works out, it that it will give your child a sense of independence. These are not projects that need a parent hovering, they can be involved in the process, but a well organized project with easy to follow directions will give the child ownership of the project and the ability to do it themselves. Eventually they will learn from doing these projects how to set up up follow up projects of their own. Once they learn how to look at vitamin C, they might take a look at different salsa sauces.

Enough can't be said about the benefit of understanding that 21st century learning is a blend of electronic time saving devices and old fashioned hands-on doing. The experience of actually doing something yourself can not be replaced, like building, creating, baking or experimenting with things you gather, touch and use. For example, the stash of one day science fair projects you find could be stored online, so kids might use their phones or computers to get the directions, and record the data, but the actual doing it part, will be a hands-on event. It ends up being a lesson in how to blend the best of both worlds.

Taking the time to work some hand-on activities into your weekend schedule will be a valuable habit for any family. You will be happy to get more cookies baked, cool projects made of wood and interesting one day science fair projects results stuck on your refrigerator. Do not worry, you still have plenty of time for laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning the bathroom, and paying your bills.

Question by Casey: What are some good readable resources for an environmental science student? I am going to start school in June toward my Environmental Science Bachelor's Degree. I am looking for resources, articles, blogs, websites, and the like to read for current issues/solutions to keep me in the loop. I enjoy all aspects of this degree and need this info to help me pick my concentration. Thanks in advance. Answer by dead_fuzz_ball
Your college will have scholarly articles or a subscription to such things, either in paper format or online. Many have this online. You can use those, or use Google search and there's an option for Scholarly papers. You can also use Wikipedia as long as you use the sources provided rather than citing Wikipedia. College professors barely trust computers and hate Wikipedia, but it's actually a fantastic resource that is more reliable than most internet sources. Just hot link to the original articles and cite those! here's the link for the Google bit.

Really Fun Science Experiments For Little Kids [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

Really Fun Science Experiments For Little Kids [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

There are many really fun science experiments that you can do with little kids. Getting your children started on experiments early can really help pique their interest in science as a subject, and as something to do in their spare time. Young children usually absorb a lot of information faster than older ones, and so taking advantage of this sponge like quality of children will really pay off in the future!

The first of the really fun science experiments you can do with young children is to show them how their senses work. Creating a model eardrum, making your own air freshener, or demonstrating the sensitivity of touch are just a few ideas on how young children can understand how important the five senses are. You can also have them close their eyes while they smell or eat something, and show them how closing off one sense can make a difference in smell and taste.

One of the really fun science experiments you can do with the senses is to demonstrate to you r child how sound travels differently through air and through water. If your child is a good swimmer, they will realize that when they are under water, sounds that seem to be coming from right on top of them, can really be coming from a certain distance away. You can help explain this by showing them how water in a glass can make a pencil look bigger, or bend at the area where it enters the water.

During the summer months or on a sunny day, teach your children how to read the time and create a sun dial out of cardboard. Showing them how time relates to shadows, as well as night and day can be mind blowing for a little kid, and this is what makes this one of the really fun science experiments. Not only will your child learn about science and telling the time, but they can also begin learning about the solar system and how the world moves around the sun.

For something more classic, but seemingly complicated to a young child, make an egg fit into a jar. The first st ep is to hard boil an egg and then peel it. Take a jar in which the opening does not allow the egg to fit through. Pour some hot water into the jar and swish it around in a circular motion. Pour the hot water out, and place the hardboiled egg at the opening. Your child will watch with amazement as the egg that once did not fit, now slides easily into the jar! Explain to your child that heat is a very powerful thing that can affect how objects move. There are other really fun science experiments you can do with heat, but wait till your child is much older.

At the end of the day, remember to have fun. Don't pressure your child too much when it comes to science. While we all wish we could raise the next Einstein, chances our that our children will be gifted in ways we never expected and nurturing the best we can is all we can do.

Question by Kind Bud: Why are liberals completely anti-science when it comes to gender roles and sexuality? Contrary to what liberals like to believe, men and woman are naturally different and is proven by science and studies. As for sexuality, science has not proven rather one is born gay or if is a developed trait. The best studies lean towards homosexuality being a product of environment and not a "gay gene". Best answer for Why are liberals completely anti-science when it comes to gender roles and sexuality?:

Answer by chevyloo487
psychology has alot to say about it, and there is enough evidence to make a convincing case that homosexuality is not a choice.

Answer by Twurzz
No shit men and women are naturally different, who the hell claimed that they weren't I figured it would take "science and studies" for a conservative to realize that one of them has a penis and the other doesn't

Answer by Jai
Well you can't throw around words like science and studies then not have any facts or examples, at least a link proving them....

Answer by straightshooter
There has been homosexuality throughout human history in every culture, and there is homosexuality in thousands of animal species. How much more evidence do you need that people are born gay or straight. Are you saying that you had to learn to be straight? Could you choose to be gay? Didn't think so. It's not a choice. Give it up.

Answer by meg
I think people know that men and woman are different even without science, but gender roles are determined by society. You have only to look at history or the difference in the role of women between different counties today to know that also. Edit. Environment also includes the environment of a fetus , so even if there is not a gay gene. it does not mean that some people are not born gay.

Answer by giallo
Men and women ARE biologically different, we use our brains differently...but one is not superior to the other, naturally, and they should be treated as equals as far as social and civil liberties are concerned (equal pay, etc...) And as far as sexuality...modern scientists see human sexuality as having a very fluid nature. Kinsey used a "scale" of sorts, with 1 being strictly homosexual and 6 being strictly heterosexual...he argued the majority of people are somewhere in the middle of this continuum (and may even gravitate in one direction or another throughout their lifetime) and that very few people are 1s or 6s. Sexuality is most likely a product of both biology (there are MANY studies which explore this - see studies about fetal development, gay twins) and environment, but the question is...why should it matter? And really, if it was just an environmental thing, which implies that it's a "choice"...why would someone chose something that could make him potentially ostracized from his/her family? Disowned? Possibly killed, in some societies? So, I think for people who aren't just "experimenting", I don't believe it is a choice, truly. And really, it's not really anyone's business how someone else is living their life. Life is hard enough as it is, so why make it harder for your fellow man? Peace out

Answer by Thalia
Yes, men and woman are different. Different physique, temperament, hormones, etc. However, it is what you use that information for, rather than the fact of it, that matters. For example, if you say women shouldn't vote because they are different, or they should stay at home, or be subservient to men, then that is not right. Sexuality is tricky. Its probably a complicated combination of things. If a family has three sons, one might be gay and the other two straight. And yet they have all come from exactly the same environment.

Answer by Igor T. Unspeakable
Huh?

Answer by Social Democrat
Radical Muslims tell me that men and women are different and this is why Islam treat them differently. A man may have more than one partner but a woman should have only one, the reason is "Biology" and DNA tests are actually not very accessible for people in most Islamic nations. So basically they are very right to discriminate because "Men and Women are different". And here is the direct answer to your question : Science shows that having 100% match between two persons in everything is closer to the impossible, so if we want to discriminate because of "Differences proved by science" then we have to put a different law for each person ! For us, Liberals, we say never. Regardless of the situation men and women should be equal, different treatment or more rights should be based on individualistic differences and age. Biology, race, and religious differences between people should be over-ruled NOT used as excuse to discriminate !

Less Than 24 Hour Science Projects - Ten Tips to Prevent Parent Panic [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

Less Than 24 Hour Science Projects - Ten Tips to Prevent Parent Panic [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

Parents should avoid panic mode when their child comes home from school and announces that the science project they knew about, but you did not, is due the next day. Every parent knows that the lecture at this point mixed in with a heavy dose of yelling, is not what you are supposed to do. But, we all do it anyway. So, after all of that is vented, the parent needs to keep panic at bay, and make the most of the time you have to finish this less than 24 hour science project. Panic mode can just about assure there will be tears, arguments and and possibly an all-nighter for a project that the child watched the parent mostly do. One day science fair projects can be done!

Here are ten tips to help prevent parent panic.

Check the book bag immediately. If the 24 Hour Science Project Gods are on your side there will be specific instructions. This is where you cross you fingers and hope that the project was not supposed to be checking results over a two or three day period. Put the child to work with the rest of his homework while you scope out the requirements for the one day science fair project! Search the papers you found for a directions and a supply list. If there is one, do not assume you have anything, get it in front of you so you can see it. Send someone to the store to buy anything that is needed. That person is in charge of bringing home fast food. Quietly put a pot of coffee on, and then out of hearing from your child call another mother in the class, that will not laugh too hard when you ask for details. If you need to design your own project go online and search for one day science fair projects and look for a teacher created product that fits the criteria of your assingment. Make sure it has all the pieces needed, research, data entry sheets, easy to follow instructions. Buy it, this is not the time to search high and low for the free stuff. Download it to your computer and print. While the child is finishing her homework, and you are waiting for the supplies and fast food, take a moment to yourself and go get changed into your comfy feel good clothes. Once homework is finished, and the food and supplies are back and everything is gathered, place the directions in front of him, and talk him through the project. You sit with the coffee, he does the work. Since time is a factor there are a few things you can do to help move things along. If something needs typed up, you can help by typing word for word what you are told to write. You might also do things like help paste papers onto a poster board.

Remember your child is in panic mode too, so set the example for calm less than 24 hours science projects and encourage them along the way. The next day is the time for the lecture and to let them know what an inconvenience all that was, and to problem solve so it does not happen again. These one day science fair projects will be a story you can tell your grandchildren one day.

To this day, my heart rate rises, my anxiety levels soar, my anger boils, and I could easily scream when I hear the words on a television show or see an article in a magazine talking about the child who comes home and says, "Mom, I need (fill in the blank) by tomorrow." When that fill in the blank is a school project, like a home science project for kids to do at home, well lets just say in most parents' minds, these one day science fair projects bring up enough emotion to last a lifetime.

Here are a few of the key things that make this a nightmare:

Time- You basically have to give up everything planned for the evening. To get the materials, help guide the child, keep them on task. Chances are it will be a late night.

Emotion- You cannot show too much frustration or anger, beyond your initial reaction of course. This is because if you are upset, your child gets upset, and then you deal with tears and the rest of the family on edge . So, you have to keep it positive and reassure him that one day science fair projects most certainly can be done, and it will be fine. Save the lecture for the next day.

Supplies- There is a good chance you will not have typical supplied needed for a typical home science project for kids,so a quick trip (or two) to the closest discount store becomes part of your time crunch. Since you are alone in the car, those emotions will come to the surface and you might become one of those angry aggressive drivers, lucky to get home with the supplies in one piece.

When parents find themselves in this situation, they will most likely turn to the Internet for help. There will be millions of results for a wide variety of home science project for kids. The problem at this point is you not only need an idea for a project, you need the research, you need to create data record sheets, and you need ones that will actually work. The best plan of action, really at this point, is to just buy a digital product that is teacher and parent tested and that kids have proven to be successful with. That way your frantic search time is cut down to nothing, and with an instant download you will have numerous projects to choose from, and more importantly some to save for your next one day science fair projects crisis that, do not kid yourself, will come to your house on another busy night!

Star Trek Online Science Ship Guide [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

Star Trek Online Science Ship Guide [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

Science ships in Star Trek Online are different from other ships you can get your hands on. While most players choose other ships due to their better combat capabilities, players who decide to play with science ships are usually more patient and don't mind winning battles in other ways and not only by having more powerful shields of stronger weapons.

Science ships don't have the best weapons, the largest crew compliment or the strongest shields and hull, but they have plenty of other features which make them a formidable opponent indeed. Science ships are more inclined to beat their enemies by tactical planning, discovering weaknesses in other ships by using sensors. One of the best features of these ships is the ability to detect cloaked vessels which greatly help when combating Klingons.

Science vessels in Star Trek also have better auxiliary systems as well as more advanced deflectors which also have a great impact on the outcome of your battles. They ar e great for controlling battles with their various buffs and debuff abilities and are more than welcome in larger fleets as support. Although, that does not mean they can not complete missions or beat opponents on their own; quite the contrary, they are more than capable of doing so.

In larger fleets science vessels are very useful for their vast technical expertise and can air their fellow captains by making their ships more stronger in a lot of areas. They can also help by making enemy ships weaker, and all that is their specialty. There are over a dozen science class ships available to players in STO only in Federation faction, and it depends on their rank. On each rank (level) there are several different available SC ships and each one has their pros and cons.

Question by Katarina: How does the 2010 oil spill effect the science of the earth? I have to do an STSE for grade 9 science, and i was wondering (for the science part) how does the oil spill effect the science (land, chemistry) of the earth. Like not the environment, but the air and land and water. HELP! Best answer for How does the 2010 oil spill effect the science of the earth?:

Answer by Jonathan G
Air - Some groups are burning patches of oil before they reach the shore so that makes pollution. Land - The oil, which is black, will absorb more heat from the sun which will make the area hotter. Water - Pretty obvious, oil kills the animals and blocks sunlight from getting to aquatic plants.

Answer by oldtimer
Exclusive of environment, not much. If the latest guesses are any where near correct on flow rate, (and that is far from guaranteed) the conclusion is that pressures in the Macondo reservoir are higher than any previously discovered. The previous max unhindered flow for a well was just over 32000 b/d. the guess of 1.7 million gallons converts to near 40,500 b/d, a 20% increase. In the meantime, not enough is known about how the well in curently restricted within the BOP. Additionally, that higher rate would only occur after the riser was cut eliminated the crimps, folds and bends in the collapsed riser.

Science clubs are one of the neatest groups a student can belong to. Being a part of the club allows for educational opportunities that do not really exist in other areas in life. Things like playing with liquid nitrogen, building an electric motor, doing dissections, and studying rockets are all incredibly fun and educational activities that members get to participate in.

To do them though, the club needs money. Obviously any good science club will have membership fees to cover some of the expenses but, if you want to do big projects, like taking apart an engine or dissecting a shark, you will need to have a fundraiser.

When your group leaders and coordinators meet to pick your fund raising program, they will probably all agree that the fundraiser needs to be fun, easy, and raise a good deal of money. The other criteria that is coming more and more into science club fundraiser discussions is whether or not the fundraiser is educational. Since the entire po int of your organization is to teach the members, why not pick a fundraiser that does the same thing.

Some of the best fundraising ideas for clubs that focus on science are green fundraisers. There are a lot of options available to groups that focus on biology, sustainability, and energy conservation. With each type of fundraiser, a science lesson can be easily integrated.

One of the most popular fundraisers is a plant fundraiser. The plants can be flowers, trees, and even vegetable gardens. The science club can document the growth rates of the various plants and their yield over time. For the vegetable garden fundraisers, club members can also study the effects of different environments on the vegetables production.

Sustainability fundraisers typically focus on items like plastic bag waste reduction. Have your science club study the effects of each bag in the areas of plastic bag waste and its effect on the environment.

Question by Fireworks: How to get started with science when they don't like it to begin with? I'd like to start with beginning science books if possible. Don't want to overwhelm them from the beginning. I would like to ease them into science. They don't like science because the science teacher at their public school wasn't very helpful and left them on their own. The experience just left them very frustrated. Best answer for How to get started with science when they don't like it to begin with?:

Answer by Shea
My advice would be to make it fun. Try some fun experiments and whatnot. Also...learn with them! That way there is no 'oh ask your father. oh ask your mother' thing going on. And just be super helpful and fun and it'll be much easier for them. Dont make them read their books alone, let them take turns reading out loud with eachother. Thats an easier way to keep your mind from wandering, and makes it easier to remember.

Answer by renee70466
What are they interested in? Birds? Bugs? Plants? How things are made? What makes this old thing work? Why did this stop working? All of those things require science. For my son who is interested in how things work I asked on freecycle (look under Yahoo Groups for a group near you) for old broken radios and appliances. He takes them apart and tries to get them working again My oldest is interested in Birds so we birdwatch. She takes pictures of the birds and we look them up online. She then identifies it, finds out where is lives, what it eats and any other information she can get on them and adds it to her bird book. We also use a curriculum from Sonlight for her grade so that she is getting more than bird education. Science is all around you. Cooking is science (chemistry) and Math (use lots of recipes double them and have them figure out how much it needs to double it).

Science Polls Indicate Americans Losing Some Respect For the Lab Coat [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

First, the good news for scientists: Americans respect advancements in science, technology and medicine more than advancements in any other field, other than the always-impressive "don't know." Unfortunately, however, science polls indicate that respect for for the field is dwindling in comparison to others.

Current science polls from the Pew Research center indicate that 27% of Americans think that our nation's greatest achievements are those that take place in beakers, petri dishes and physics labs. While no doubt an impressive number, similar polls from a scant ten years ago suggested that number was nearly 50%. Despite exciting advancements in medicine and technology -- the proliferation of the Internet comes to mind -- it's clear the public doesn't place as high a priority on these sorts of developments as it did in the past.

Perhaps partially explaining the relatively poorer performance of science in polls is the rise of equal rights as an issue of pu blic concern. Ten years ago, just 5% of people felt that it was the most impressive advancement. In the most recent surveys, that number has more than tripled, perhaps spurred by the election of biracial President Barack Obama.

On an optimistic note for science, polls indicate that Americans still have overwhelmingly positive views of it, with 84% replying that they thought it was a net good for society. Only 6% felt it was largely negative. While there aren't past science polls that are exactly comparable, responses have always indicated that, on the whole, Americans are pro-science.

In all, there doesn't seem to be much to worry about for science -- polls indicate that Americans are a long way away from abandoning it in favor of divination or magic. It is interesting, however, that its prevalence in the national consciousness seems to be slightly receding.

In the world of today, technology rules and older more traditional ways of doing things have taken a backseat to the use of computers and the new technologies of the world. Because of this fact, the most useful major for a student of today is one that will ultimately influence the future, Computer Science.

Computer Science is one of the newer majors in the world, mostly because of the rapid advancement of technology of the generations. Computer Science is the present and the future; it is the study of the information and the computations of today's technology. Because it is so new, it incorporates a large number of smaller fields of study such as computer graphics but it also deals with more computing problems such as computational complex theory. The bottom line is that it is what will lead the world into a new age of better technology and a world in which difficult things can be done with great ease.

Computers are the future of the world. Everything is ge tting smaller, but they are also becoming more powerful, more mobile, smarter and easier for the public to use. Almost all those things have to do with Computer Science. Scientists must understand how those things work, how to make them more accessible, how to make them more powerful, and most of all how to improve on a previous work. Cell phones are a perfect example of the rapid evolution of the phone. In the span of my lifetime, 17 years, the phones have from in cars, to portable, to the size of regular phones, to smaller than a regular phone, to thinner, to more powerful, to browsing the internet, and to Bluetooth. All these things, happened in less than 15 years, imagine 15 years from now? How will phones and cars and computers be then? Only the works of Computer Scientists truly tell how far these things can be taken. Without science the world fails to improve technologically. The computer that is stronger and smarter than the human brain, will never be created, cars p lanes and other vehicles fail to get better to help the environment, economy, and everything in between. More advanced machines for medical purposes will never be created, and the current ones never improved. The progression of man will stop. Computer Science is the way of the future.

Computer Science is simply the most important and useful major to humanity today and in the future. Computers have come of age in our generation and humanity should also come of age in this computer generation. Humans are at their best when dealing with computer science, because when one is working on computer science, he or she is working on their future, and the future of families and humans everywhere.

Saas Bina Sasuraal - Episode 376 - 9th July 2012

Some see a conflict between science and religion. Religion has often been opposed to science, when science contradicted some of it's beliefs. On the other hand, some have said that since science cannot prove the existence of God, there should be no religion. The truth is there should be no conflict because they operate in different areas and answer different questions.

Science has to take creation as it finds it. It can never answer the question why. It can only answer the question how. Science involves experiment, observation and theory. Where you can experiment, you do. Chemistry and physics are two scientific fields where you can perform experiments. Astronomy is a science where observation is the only method. Once scientist have conducted their experiments or done their observations, they try to form hypothesis and eventually theories. There are religious groups that find the theory of evolution a threat. it's only a theory, they say. What they don't understa nd is that all scientific truth is theory. Newton discovered the theories of motion. They proved to be true and are used by engineers and scientist everyday. You may have heard them called Newton's laws of motion. But they should have been called Newton's theories because Einstein's theory of relativity showed that though they worked well here on earth in normal circumstances, they were not the whole truth. The theory of evolution is the same. It's a scientific theory that, though true as far as it goes, is subject to revision as new facts emerge.

Religion can never answer the question, how. Once, the Catholic church had the earth at the center of the universe, with hell below and heaven above. When Galileo discovered that it was just one of a number of planets orbiting around the sun, the church threatened him with excommunication or worse if he didn't recant. The church of course was wrong. Religion gets into trouble, when it tries to say how things work in the natur al world. Religion can only answer the question why? Growing up Catholic I remember an early question in religious education. Why did God make me? The answer was God made me to know him, to love him and to be with him forever in heaven. Could that be proven? Could it even be proven that God made me. No! That like all religious dogma has to be accepted on faith. Some scientist might say that since none of it can be scientifically proven, why believe anything. But there is a creation here. The principle by which it works has always been. Scientist seek to discover how it works. They use what they learn to create many wonders. But they can only create, if they follow natures rules. But who or what made it like it is? Who or what made the rules? Why are we here? Why is anything here? Science cannot answer that. That has to be left to religion or philosophy. As humans we seek for knowledge to know our world and how it works but we also seem to need faith. As long as we are always open the truth and not dogmatic all will be well.

Engineering is consistently one of the highest-paid professions. There is a shortage of qualified engineers. Engineers are getting paid $ 50,000/year or more straight out of school because they are trained to solve problems. They design, build, and work on projects with tens- or hundreds-of-millions of dollars, so industry can afford to pay them well.

Answer by »-(¯`v´¯)-» Ð"пﺃмдâ„" â„"o٧ε٢
I would have to guess working with medicine. What I mean by that, is discovering new medicine, diseases, causes, and cures. Because there are so many sicknesses and not enough medicine, a person who discovered a new medication or cure for that disease would get a LOT of money. Earth scientists would also recieve a HUGE salary- because of all the non- renewable resources we are using, and we need renewable ones! All jobs that are high-paid require many years of hard work and dedication- at college of course. I want to be a vaterinarian when I grow up, but the work in college will be unbearable- I am still willing to go throught that because of my love for aniamls. Anyway, what I said about the scientists was pretty much everything you needed to know. I get carried away sometimes when I write- sorry about that.

Answer by smittybo20
You need to look at the future. Today's well paying jobs will soon dead end and they all shift to another area. The best paying job to go for is Renewable Energy and how to improve it. It is really going to boom in the next ten years. It is starting to now. This requires a knowledge of physics, and chemistry. So there are you 2 Fields of work to watch. Medical and the rest are trailing due to the fact of the struggle to create a cleaner, healthier life for us to live in, not just for today, but future generations to come. Check this out for yourself... Go to www.nrel.gov and search on the education and research links. Renewable Energy is in fact going to help save a lot of live's and our environment in the immediate future. More and more scientist are being called upon to help everyday to aid in heating/cooling, fuels, and earth studies. Look at the contracts and what money is being awarded through grants from DOE to fund these studies, then make your decision.

Engineering... Just as previously stated, there is a demand for engineers... now if you can do aerospace, etc. engineering.... even better!

Answer by astatine
The key is to key up with the changes in industry after you graduate, otherwise the world passes by you. I am in the computer field and made over $ 75K in the early 80s. Didn't keep up with the PC and networking phenomena and now make just over $ 50K. Whatever your chosen field is, network, keep abreast with technology, and learn to communicate with all levels of people, and be ambitious. You dont have to be the sharpest tool in the shed - if you're ambitious, hardworking, and take risks the dollars will come.

Answer by eri
1K? A year? A month? A week? Science teachers don't get paid much, typically. Probably a neurosurgeon or anesthesiologist make more than most scientists. But that's because it might take you 20 years to get to that point. In response to someone above - astrophysicists make very little money compared to the 8-12 years of college we got. Starting salaries around 40K for a post-doc - maybe your first 5 years after getting your doctorate. After that, very few make more than a 100K, even at the end of their careers. That's more like starting salary for doctors.

â€" [Science]

Why, everyone knows that science is true and what is unscientific isn't! It's as simple as that. Take it a step further, and we commonly hear that the findings of science are proven, but religious ideas are pi in the sky, myths, completely lacking any credibility and scientific objectivity!

So, what do we mean by science being objective? Do we mean that its goal, as far as possible, is to make sure that its findings shall be free of all bias and impartiality? Hmm, that may be saying something else. Is the modern scientific enterprise - and I have worked in it as a development engineer - completely neutral, with a universal and verifiable reference frame that is totally free of all philosophical thought or influence? You bet - it's not!

Yes, fortunately, aeroplanes normally fly, phones connect and computers crunch numbers, each in ways that fit close enough to the physical reality - great! But then consider also how many people engaged in the sciences assume that naturalism is true - period: nothing is excluded - there are no non-physical entities such as our minds, or ideas like love, truth and beauty, or the existence of a supreme, personal Being. So then is naturalism proven by science? No, it's a philosophical belief.

Look, don't get me wrong; far be it from me to be undermining science, when that's not what I'm trying to do, but I do need to explain what I'm driving at. Let me illustrate this from my book Dawkins' Dilemmas. Here's a summary of part of my argument from chapter seven:

It's a serious dilemma

There is no doubt that Richard Dawkins is a serious thinker, and that somehow he needs to stand outside of his avowed naturalism in order to give an independent evaluation of it as the only final reality there is! Does he do that? Is that sort of assessment within the remit of science? I doubt it; it's an a priori, an assumed starting point, that begs the question.

Dawkins' belief in philos ophical naturalism is his opinion. Sure, he doesn't want you to see it quite like that - that he has already conferred it with the highest accolade of final truth. Why so, what could possibly be embarrassing about that? Quite simply, for starters his naturalism assumes his thinking is only a complex electro-chemical reaction in his brain, unable to transcend its own nature to make finally independent assessments - that naturalism is a true description of objective reality!

Consider Dawkins' view that we build models of the external world, and how that view fits quite well with an older empiricism; that all of our experience or knowledge of the external world comes through the impressions that objects leave on our senses. But it doesn't explain how he enjoys a personal awareness of being part of an objective reality because I am suggesting that his personality already transcends the explanatory power of naturalism. As a consequence, naturalism is unable to give him an a dequate basis for his belief in it as a theory of everything, including himself.

How can you be sure? - An awful dilemma

So he freely admits that he cannot think how to disprove the suggestion of several science-fiction authors that 'we live in a computer simulation, set up by some vastly superior civilisation.' With this sort of fantasy we are now more like three-dimensional hologram images, trapped in a vast computer-simulated virtual reality game. Do you see why Dawkins' isn't sure about reality? When he denies there are no final absolutes, (except, perhaps his belief in the truth of naturalism and atheism) he has no way of telling the difference between an objective reality and a make-believe one.

Now, in Dawkins' view, we might or might not be like the toys beginning to talk to one another on Christmas Eve! And he's not sure which. Do you know what? Denial of final truth always leads to profound uncertainty, which, when you consider it, is what you might expect. And if Dawkins is unsure whether he's in a real reality, or a complex, computer-simulated one, what chance has he got of showing us that his atheism or his naturalism are real explanations of the ultimate reality?

Alas, Dawkins' ambivalent thinking leads him into serious confusion and dilemmas for which his atheism has no resolution. Why is that? Atheism isn't science.

The ultimate paradox

Yes, if the whole universe had no final meaning - just like the computer-simulated sub-reality - we would never have been able to make such a startling discovery! (Do you get it? - 'no final meaning,' a universal negative equals a type of 'final meaning'!) But, if on the other hand, the universe does possess final meaning, is the model inside Dawkins' head sufficiently developed to present naturalism or atheism as final meanings; I mean, how would he ever know? In comparison, the Christian position shows that following the Fall the natural thinki ng of humanity has become subject to confused futility. And without revealed answers, we are left with the random, meaningless whirling of our cerebral molecules, and personal unbelief.

Winding up this brief discussion, the ultimate paradox helps us to see that the very idea of final meaning - which if there were none, we would never have found out - only makes sense if there is final meaning: a final meaning paradoxically denied by atheism, but secured by the rational, living God revealed in Christian theism, the Creator of an understandable reality. So, are your views of science and the interpretations of the physical universe grounded in some sort of philosophy? Absolutely!

Saas Bina Sasuraal - Episode 318 - 10th April 2012

For so long science has been considered as a subject but in the 21st century science will be relative to individuals "mental illuminatory wave length". Science is more than a subject. It is knowledge made possible by a mind quality which researches, explores and unveils the nature, behaviour and operational dynamics of matter.

Everything operates on a science. The science of matter is the hidden dimension of the nature of matter which defines its behaviour and operational dynamics. "Deep calls for deep" is the scientific revelation of the 21st century.

The 'deep' of matter is the hidden dimension of the nature of matter which defines its behaviour and operational dynamics. The 'deep' of man, is the hidden dimension of the human mind, which possesses illuminatory strength which can perceive and understand the hidden dimensions of matter without practical experiments or laboratory activities.

This implies, the scientific breakthroughs of the 21st centur y will be products of scientific minds which can ascend into knowledge without pre- experimental activities.

Thus, the laboratory of the 21st century science will not be buildings with instruments for experiments but human minds.

The human mind: This is the seat of true science. The human mind is the largest component of the human soul. Its abilities are beyond human physiological comprehension. In fact, it is the most unexploited realm of human existence.

The human mind possess abilities which when released in full efficacy, can affect the world positively in all areas. The human mind possesses illuminatory strength which can penetrate into the core of matter, bringing out the hidden dimensions of its operative dynamics.

The mind is the greatest research center with four powerful faculties. Creative, thinking, reasoning imaginative faculties. Each of these faculties possesses infinite and unlimited capabilities and can operate in relativity with othe rs for maximum productivity.

When the human mind is developed through illumination and regeneration, the four faculties of the mind begin a journey of equal and relative operation for maximum exhibition of mental exactitude. At this level the hidden dimensions of matter can be assessed without any form of physical experimental activities. This is the breakthrough which awaits humanity in the 21st century.

With respect to this concept, the scientific focus of the 21st century will be based on mind illumination and regeneration through the impact of positive and quality knowledge. As human minds develop in their "illuminatory wave length", scientific evolutions and revolutions will be the natural outcome.

The limitations of experimental science: This is the science which depends on experiments for its conclusive analysis. It has given birth to scientific breakthroughs which are characterized by constant errors and failures because most experimental analysis a re not 100% accurate, but based on trial and error. Many people are dying from plane crash, medical side effects, etc. There are so many imbalances and errors with virtually every scientific breakthrough of the 20th century.

Humanity must leave the trial and error scientific tactics to science based on exactitude. This breakthrough will be relative to the degree of mental illumination and exactitude.

Scientific exactitude: This is a scientific dimension based on mental exactitude in scientific analysis. Exactitude is a level of accurate or exact analysis based on "hyper illumination". This degree of illumination is not possible without Divine knowledge. Divine knowledge is the infinite omniscient dimension of knowledge equal and relative to the infinite dimension of the mind. It contains the original principles which define all of life's operative dynamics.

When the human mind develops into higher mental altitudes based on illumination, its creativity and p roductivity becomes exact. This is the base of the 21st century scientific revolution.

Usana Health Sciences was formed in 1992 by Dr. Myron Wentz who is renowned worldwide as a microbiologist and immunologist. Usana has been offering good products for the past 17 years, and have been complying with the MLM laws throughout this period. It has been in compliance with all the Direct Selling Association and FTC rules. It is also a member of the DSA. Despite these strong credentials, there is a constant stream of questions about the legitimacy of the Usana Company and the business opportunity it offers.

The Usana Health sciences Company offers products in the health and wellness industry. Usana has introduced three product lines. They are supplements called Micro Optimizers, skin care products called as Sense, and food replacements known as Macro Optimizers. The aim of the Usana health sciences Company is to provide high quality science based products which can be distributed internationally through a network of associates. Usana has spent years develo ping their products, and these products have been received very well by people. They are beneficial and effective products, and the company has special partnerships with scientists for help in design and content of the product. Dr. Wentz has always believed that prevention is better than cure, and his products reflect his philosophy. The long run the products have enjoyed and the positive feedback are factors providing effective proof about the legitimacy of the product.

As a network marketing company, it provides a binary plan for compensation. While this plan has created many millionaires in the past, most consultants advise against subscription to this plan. So Usana health sciences offers options to an individual which are either to buy their products as a valued customer or an opportunity for the individual to build his own business.

The binary plan is simple in nature. There are two sides to an individual's business performance. When the sale volumes on the left hand and right hand sides match at a certain pre set volume, the individual is paid his commission. Question by scriptpunk: What is the difference between computer engineer and computer science? What can a computer engineer and a computer science do? Best answer for What is the difference between computer engineer and computer science?:

Answer by Michael
Well, I have my degree in CS. CS is really just another form of math, it is the science of computation, or in other words the science behind how you develop algorithms to solve problems. Along the way you learn programming, not because CS has anything to do with programming, but coding is the tool we use to solve the problems. Kind of like a regular math degree has nothing to do with your TI-82, yet you have to use it to solve problems... You also learn stuff like data structures, time complexity analysis, and you will learn about how computers work from the ground up. I'm not totally sure, but I think that CE focusses more on the computer, how it works and how to build a computer rather than on the computation. In CE the Computer refers to an actual computer, whenre in CS the Computer has more to do with computation than a computer. Hope this helps @mlikesit

Nanotechnology - The Science That is Changing the World - Should it Be Used in Beauty Products? [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

Nothing is more complex than trying to explain the science of nanotechnology, with maybe the exception of rocket science or quantum physics. So, why would any company or manufacturer who uses this science in there products, tell consumers about it? The short answer is they wouldn't. In fact, I am only aware of one company that is forth coming in their use of nanotech; and that company is Entity Beauty. We as consumers like simple, and nanotech is far from simple. So, let me share some, of what I have learned.

I found that in writing this article that there are many different definitions of nanotechnology. Here is one definition which I thought was most revelant to the beauty industry, and the context of this article. Nanotechnology, shortened to "nanotech", is the study of the controlling of matter on an atomic and molecular scale. Generally nanotechnology deals with structures of the size 100 nanometers or smaller in at least one dimension, and involves developi ng materials or devices within that size. So now, I will explain that in laymen's terms; super small, itsy bitsy. Picture one human skin cell. Now, imagine something about a 1/50th smaller than a human skin cell. That is the scale at which nanotechnology works. This is why some hair manufacturers incorporating this science. Due to nanotech's ability to allow shampoo and conditioning ingredients to penetrate the hair follicle, overall texture, and hair quality improve, and you as a consumer receive maximum results, and beautiful hair.

I was never the kid in school who held his hand up first when it came to answering the teachers questions in science, or chemistry class. Not that I was a dunce or anything, I just never wanted to look like a fool in front of the class for possibly giving the wrong answer. It was only later in life that I learned this simple truth. Ignorance never means your stupid; only that you don't know, or understand something. The only problem I see with ignorance, is some people choose to remain that way. If, there is one thing that most of us don't understand, it is how important nanotechnology is in the world today, or more importantly how it is changing it. It is predicted that every salon, spa, and nail professional and their clients, will eventually be exposed to nanotech in one form or another within the next few years. Which stands to reason, as nanotechnology is probably one of the most notable advancements in science in the past fifty years. I predict nanotech applications will be used for generations to come, and if we ever have any chance at finding a cure for cancer, or the common cold, nanotechnology will more than likely have something to do with it. But, is it really needed in skincare, and more importantly the beauty industry as a whole? I say, yes, and the reason is this.

As consumers are constantly looking for bigger, better, new and improved products. How often do you go out looking for last ge neration products, when there is something newer? I would hazard a guess, never. Manufacturers, include statements like new and improved, on the labels of their products, because they know you will be more drawn to purchase them. What I really want to know, and you should be asking, is what did they improve? Did they improve the bottle, the fonts, or how well the product well the product will actually perform. The only way any lotion, or cream, shampoo or conditioner is going to give you any long term benefits, is by utilizing science that gets to the root of the problem. Did you know most ingredients in lotions, and creams only coat the surface layer of the skin? Nanotech allows ingredients to penetrate the skin, and deliver the ingredients which you are paying good money for, where they need to be; below the surface layer of the skin.

When it comes to new science, it is sometimes best to err on the side of caution. However, the fact is this. Most of us unknowingly ha ve already used one product, or another which utilizes the advantages nanoscience and don't realize it. Common products in which you may have had some experience with nanotech include, waterproofing agents, clothing, and furniture stain guarding products, run-flat tires, pregnancy tests, televisions and some MP3 players. Ever heard of a little thing called the ipod nano?

I, like most of you reading this probably don't care what, or how any given product works as long as it does what it promises as stated on the label. Heck! As long as my car starts in the morning, I could care less about what makes the alternator function. Please, don't get me started on PVR's, or that I never even learned how to program the clock on the old DVD player. Me, and technology don't mix. I openly admit it. So, when someone starts talking science, it typically goes in one ear, and out the other. I myself find nanotechnology to be boring, but I believe it deserves our attention as consumers.< /p>

So, if you are currently using a skin cream which uses nanotech; kudo's to you! I'll assume two things about you. First, you are paying through the nose for it, as new science is seldom inexpensive. Which by the way, is more than likely why more manufacturers don't utilize nanotech. Anything that cuts in to profits is typically viewed as bad business. And secondly, that you are a informed buyer and take your skin care seriously. I myself, have personally witnessed the benefits of nanotechnology first hand. I have seen scars that magically disappear, and hands that look, and feel younger. If there is a such thing as a magic bullet, then, I think nanotech is it. Don't let your fears, or simple ignorance keep you from trying something that can make you look beautiful. The truth is, soon you may not have a choice at all. The medical, pharmaceutical, hair, cosmetic, and spa industry have already embraced the benefits of nanotechnology. Now is a important for you to stay inf ormed as a consumer, and what is happening in the beauty world and how, how it can benefit you.

In parting, l would like to share this. As a child my mother always told me to strive to learn one new thing a day, and that is how you will grow to become a well rounded human being. So my advice is this. If you learn one new thing today, let it be more about nanotechnology, and how it is effecting the products you use to stay beautiful.

Question by : How come so many people put their faith in science? 1. Science doesn’t know everything there are many things that even after all of these years science cannot explain. 2. Science often contradicts itself. Some studies have found that certain things are beneficial to your health where as other studies have found that the same things can be detrimental to your health. But yet, certain people still put their faith or whatever they call it in science and scientists hoping that they are right. It really seems like a lot of wishful thinking. Best answer for How come so many people put their faith in science?:

Answer by Narathzul Arantheal
Oh, I don't know. Maybe because science is based on evidence and self-correcting. In any case: 1) Science doesn't ask for your faith, nor do you need any faith in it. Everything in science is independently verifiable which is the whole beauty of it. That's the opposite of faith. 2) Nobody has ever claimed science knows everything. Indeed science is a methodology, not an entity capable of knowing or not knowing things. Science is a way of getting at what is true, a demonstrably effective way at that. 3) If you think science contradicts itself, you don't understand science. In the specific example of whether something is healthy or not, there's a lot of error and jumble in the data because the relationship between what you eat and your health is complicated and it's difficult if not impossible to hold all other variables constant. That's why looking at individual studies in those areas don't show anything. Instead, scientists look at a large number of studies and do meta-analyses on them to eliminate these errors, randomness, and other factors affecting the results. The kind of journalism "New study finds X is healthy/unhealthy" is based on a misunderstanding of science and results partly from the fact that journalists don't know enough science but also partly from the fact that journalists often just want quick stories.

Answer by Flobble Woop!
"faith" = without evidence "science" = *with* evidence these terms are completely polar.

Answer by JD
Your argument is incredibly vague. 1- science has made a lot more discoveries and is continuing to do so, what else has done more? 2- Science does not contradict itself most of the time, somethings are bad AND good in different ways, that's not a contradiction.

Answer by Jack B. Nimble
Because it works.

Answer by Hellbound Tyâ„¢: Excellent!
I don't put my faith in science. You don't need faith when something has evidence for it. You're using the internet. A product of science. You have a telephone, a television, electricity, modern medicine, a car...All products of science.

Answer by pwned
There is no faith in science. NOW RELIGION has faith to believe in something that has 0 evidence thats faith.

Answer by Vixen
1. Science doesn’t know everything there are many things that even after all of these years science cannot explain. the bible explains basically nothing. and science has never and will never claim to know everything. the point of science is discovery. the things science does claim it has evidence for, there is reasoning. no evidence or reasoning in the bible 2. Science often contradicts itself. Some studies have found that certain things are beneficial to your health where as other studies have found that the same things can be detrimental to your health. Example? i have a rough idea of how to refute but it's easier to refute specifics than generalizations

Answer by Michael
1. We know that, that's why scientists are still employed-because there is stuff we don't know yet! 2. That's what peer review is for. Also have you noticed that your computer isn't run on God, karmic hippy crystals, Vodoo dolls or Tarot cards? Science works, that's why!

Answer by King of Hearts 4
1) which branch of science? The scientific method is a pretty damn good way of explaining the world. 2) Science contradicts itself because some corrupt politicians pay to have studies done and then have the data skewed in favor of their product. Independently done studies are more reliable. It's not faith. Hard evidence is not 'wishful thinking'. I would say a being that grants all of your wishes in the afterlife is more along the lines of 'wishful thinking' than science.

Answer by Pastafarian
"1. Science doesn’t know everything there are many things that even after all of these years science cannot explain." And science will continue to collect data until it can find answers. "2. Science often contradicts itself. Some studies have found that certain things are beneficial to your health where as other studies have found that the same things can be detrimental to your health." Then they will find out why in one study it was beneficial, and detrimental in another. There is no faith in science. Science is the reason why you are living the life you are living right now, in a home and not a cave, drinking clean water instead of filthy water.

Answer by Sarah Louise
I am not sure that you understand what science is. Its simply a method of understanding and testing our world and learning to make the most of it. It requires no faith. Scientists discover things and present their evidence. There is no faith involved. 1) No science does not know everything - its religion which makes that claim. 2) Yes, science adapts to new evidence - scientists have never denied this or wished to. Its religion which insists on sticking to the same story despite all evidence to the contrary. Are you putting your faith in science when you turn your computer on?

Answer by halpern57
