empirical is what you should have based on the science of what is known. For example, water boils at 100 degrees. When you actually do the experiment you might get a reading of 101, or 100.004 on your thermometer. 100 is the empirical number and 101, or 100.004 is the actual experimental number. During your experiment you will always have experimental science and not empirical.
