Fire Science Degrees and Realizing A Vocation [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

Fire Science Degrees and Realizing A Vocation [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

There are many minor towns across the country where heroic people help prevent fires and, in a wide number of cases, they are normally just volunteers with a little training. If you live in a larger city and would like to translate your desire to help others as part of your career, you should start a degree in fire science.

You can often finish a fire science degree in 2-3 years but they are only available from a small number of technical colleges and universities. They are even rarer if you are looking for an online training program because the courses tend to contain a lot of practical training. There are several colleges that offer degrees and more often than not, Universities offer the chance to study at a variety of levels. This means that will always be an entry level for you no matter what experience or previous qualifications you have.

When you enroll on a fire science degree you learn about chemistry and fire behavior and often receive guidance on how to prevent fires. You will also gain expertise in methods of firefighting and fire safety practices. Some degree programs also give you basic training in building construction to understand how fires spread and what parts of the building could cause a fire hazard.

Coursework

University Fire Science programs are internationally relevant and widely respected. They help link theory with practice and also provide assistance in conducting research with professionals from a wide range of disciplines. You'll develop skills to solve real world problems. Areas of training include strategic planning, management, financial administration and emergency management services.

Degrees in Fire Science can cover a range of topics from diagnostic approaches to fire prevention to the investigation of the disaster and fire-defense planning. Other areas of common interest include hazardous materials management, the role of fire services in the community, ana lytical approaches to fire prevention and research, defense planning disaster and fire, structure and fire protection system design, the technical, legal and social aspects of arson, the application of technologies for fighting fires and the psychological effects of flame dynamics.

Universities and Institutions

There are a few Universities and Institutions across the country that offer Fire Science degrees. Even fewer offer the option to do it online. If you have other commitments which mean you might not be able to set aside a certain amount of time, you might want to look more closely at the courses that offer the chance to study online. I recommend you do a lot of research for the corresponding cost and timings, as well as looking in to a variety of courses. There can be a very wide range of differences in th e rates of some universities and colleges so you have to make sure you gather all available information in order to have the most relevant options for you.

Realizing a Vocation

A job in the fire service is always exciting and dangerous. However, if you have a strong desire to help others and keep people safe from fire, a career in Fire Science can also be very fulfilling.

Question by tu madre: What is the easiest science to major in college? I love science and i would like to major in it. What is the easiest science to major in college? I am thinking of biology. What do you think. Thanks :) Best answer for What is the easiest science to major in college?:

Answer by wickeddd
It depends on what you're good at and what the school requires for the major. I love bio too, but to be a bio major, I need to take chem and organic chem classes, which I am SOOOO bad in so I refuse to be a bio major, although I'm taking many bio classes. Right now, I'm probably gonna be a psych major cos psych is easier than chemistry to me and there are bio classes i can take and still have a good time learning. College bio labs require like 12 page lab reports. if you are up to the task and dont mind taking chem, then by all means, go for it! =) may i suggest taking an anatomy class? it's so awesome. the pelvic girldle is connected to the patella (the hip bone is connected to the knee bone song) lol. nvm =(

Nothing is easy. Its what you have a passion for. If you have passion and enjoy it you will be successful.

Psychology, and yes, psychology is a science. Most sciences aren't really easy. If you want something that's easy, try business.

Ha ha. That's a trick question... there are no easy sciences, and indeed no easy majors. I too love sciences, and in fact I'm a biology major... but it's hardly been easy! I happen to find biology more intriguing than, say, chemistry or physics, but that's mostly to do with my affinity for the outdoors. It depends on what your concentration is, too. At my school you can be a general biology major, a medical biology major, an ecological biology major (like me), or a chemical biology major. It seems that the medical biology route is more difficult because so many of those students intend to enter the professional medical field as doctors or nurses, but really none of them are easy. Anyway, not to chide you, but don't pick your major because you think it'll be easy. There's really nothing easy about college, no matter what you're studying. Just pick what you're most interested in, and that way you'll at least be interested in the subject for which you're working your @ss off.

That will depend on your aptitudes.

Major in what you enjoy and has the most options for when you graduate. If you do something easy, you might find it boring and uninteresting or slack off and get a bad GPA. I'm doing chemistry, but I think biology would be a lot of memorising. If you want something incredibly easy, do Business.
