Easy Science Experiments For Kids - Narrow It Down So Your Child Can Choose [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

Question by Debbie: Is a Bachelor of Applied Science as good as a Bachelor of Science in the eyes of a hiring manager? When they say you need a Bachelors Degree to qualify for a job, does a Bachelor of Applied Science degree count? I'm trying to figure out which courses to take, and would prefer to do the applied science courses, if it's all the same. Best answer for Is a Bachelor of Applied Science as good as a Bachelor of Science in the eyes of a hiring manager?:

I'm not exactly sure what the difference is, but my first instinct is that Applied Science sounds second tier.

รข€" [Science]

The first battle when you are looking for easy science experiments for kids to do on their own is to narrow down the project choices to something they can handle. You want to set it up so they can make the final decisions without overwhelming them.

Your first steps will be to filter out all of the project choices that are not going to work.

The obvious first step is to look at the topic. If it is an earth science topic, then you only search for earth science, if it is evaporation, then look for that. Unfortunately often it is a very general or open-ended sort of thing. In that case you will use the things the kids seem to like or just use the cool factor.

Now you narrow you search to the right grade level. This way you will not be distracted by other projects that may look cool but do not fit this particular assignment. At this point don't look at how complicated it may or may not be. The fact is that there are easy science experiments for kids to do that are appropriate for each grade level.

Next you will take a close look at the type of project. The most common are investigation, collection, experimentation and demonstration. Again, you will not be side-tracked with other fun experiments that do not match the assignment.

The next step is to look at your time frame. Sometime the assignment will tell you that it is to be done over certain specific time frame. Most of the time however, it is the family schedule that will dictate your time. Do you have a weekend? Do you only have one day? Eliminate all the experiments that will take more time than you have.

By now your list should be whittled down to a more manageable level and your can zone in on them.

Your goal will be to end up with a good variety of great choices, about 5-10 so the child can choose one.

Take a quick look at the materials lis t. Eliminate all the ones with weird or expensive items. There are plenty of easy science experiments for kids that use common household ingredients.

Look at the directions. Get rid of the ones that are sketchy or just too hard to understand. If a grown-up has trouble with it, you know the kids will too.

Other things to look for are the resources they give you. Do they have easy online research materials the kids can use for their report? Are there pre-set spreadsheets to keep track of the data? Is there a report template to use?

Hopefully this will leave you with a solid list of 5-10 good science fair project ideas. Now you need to turn the project over to its rightful owner, the child, so they make the final choice. Do your best to totally leave this up to the kids and let them take it from there.
