Answer by Tiger Toy
Dear Jen, Many newspapers have a science section. That covers news in science that may be of local interest. If your local university publishes a newspaper, (many have a weekly) there is usually at least one article about things being done in scientific research at the school. BTW, I looked at the on-line edition of the Buffalo News. There seems to be an article about one of your local cardiologists (doctors who specialize in heart disease) criticizing advertisements that may mislead patients about heart medicine. That's science too. Of course, living in New York state, you have access to the newspapers from the bigger cities. If you go to the library, look at their copies of the NEW YORK TIMES. They have a wonderful science section. Newspapers are interesting ways to learn about your town and what people there think of things in the wider world. Journalists are professional writers who collect information and turn it into news. Many do it so well that others of us become "news junkies". I hope that you will enjoy your expedition into their world. Tiger Toy
