8th Grade Science Projects Made Fun and Easy [sciencetechnology-center.blogspot.com]

8th grade science projects are a bit more advanced than previous grades. You will be expected to do your project entirely on your own and enter it in the school's science fair. Eighth grade science fair projects shouldn't be too involved, as you need time to focus on writing the report to go with it. Don't think you need a big drawn out experiment to do well in the science fair, this is untrue. All you need is to pick a topic that you like, be able to explain your project and show how you came to your conclusions. You will also need to have an eye-pleasing presentation.

One idea for an eighth grade science project is to see if you can raise a small fish in an enclosed environment in a glass jar. This project requires some work to set up, but is then basically all observation for about a month. If you don't have that much time, another interesting project is to find out what sort of conditions cause mold to grow on bread the fastest, or to find out if water can tr avel through plant stems.

For this experiment, all you need is a vase, some water, food coloring and a few white carnations. Simply fill the vase half full with water, add some food coloring and place the carnations in the water. Check them the next day and the flower should show the color of the food coloring in it, thus proving that water can indeed travel through plants stems.

Question by : Would a non-science related minor increase my chances of getting into medical school? Or does it really not make much of a difference? I am starting University next year and I am planning to major in Biological sciences. I was hoping to get a minor in Physics since I have an interest in that area but would a non-science minor be more beneficial? Best answer for Would a non-science related minor increase my chances of getting into medical school?:

Answer by eri
It doesn't really matter. Pick a major you can use to get a job if you don't get into med school, not based on how it might look to med schools since they don't require any specific major.

Answer by ownpool
The most beneficial minor will be the most difficult one in which you can earn all A grades. Medical schools care much more about the grades than the minor, although the difficulty of the subject in which the A grades are earned is sometimes considered in a close case. Physics is considered a difficult subject.

Do what you want to do, and get good grades. Physics has the advantage of problem solving (thinking analytically), which med-schools like. A non-science major (I'm assuming you mean something like Psychology or something about understanding people) helps them know that you can relate to and understand people. If you think you will enjoy/be passionate about physics, take physics. A non-s cience minor could potentially help you, but you're not going to be excluded for not having one as long as you keep your GPA up. In other words, if you're truly interested in a non-science minor, take it. If you think it sounds boring and you'd just be taking it to improve your chances, it's more likely to hurt your chances, since boring classes lead to worse grades. Also, the rate my professor sites will help you immensely in regards to making whatever you take interesting.
