I am considering going to APUS for a degree in environmental science and just found out about ABET accreditation, which APUS does not have. I have heard so many good things about this online school that I hate to just abandon the idea of going there right away. I have read that ABET is important for civil and mechanical engineering but have found nothing about environmental science. Help please. To date, ABET has accredited Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering and Environmental Engineering Technology programs. ABET accredits program in applied science fields such as engineering, computing and engineering technology. It generally does not accredit any programs in fields that are research specific such as Environmental Science. For purposes of determining the value of the APUS program you should contact graduate program admissions offices at your intended institution for graduate study to ask if a bachelors degree from APUS would be considered adequate for admissions.
